John Quincy Stewart, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, friend and teacher, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019, due to pneumonia and heart failure.
John, a descendant of the pioneer families of Ferns and Carver, was born to John Quincy and Eliza Edith (Ferns) Stewart on October 4, 1929 in the Fern Valley area of Phoenix, Oregon. He and his parents moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1948. He attended Southern Oregon College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1952 at which time he began his teaching career at Phoenix Elementary School. John earned his Master of Science in Education degree at Southern Oregon College of Education in 1962. Also in 1962, when the Phoenix and Talent School Districts consolidated John moved to Talent Junior High School, teaching Social Studies there until he retired in 1986. He was considered a great teacher, even by his own children who had him as their teacher in Junior High School.

Stanley Lovell Ferns August 2, 1930 – March 3, 2020 Stanley Lovell Ferns, 89, of Phoenix and most recently Ashland, passed into eternity on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at The Village at Valley View Assisted Living and Memory Care. Stan was born in Medford, Oregon on August 2, 1930, to Ralph and Mona Ferns. He had one older sister, Gladys Davenport, who preceded him in death in 1999. He married Bonnie Lou Terzenbach on September 23, 1950 in Phoenix where they made their home and raised two children, Marlon and Connie.

Ray Ferns transitioned from this life suddenly and peacefully on March 27th, 2022 at his home in Stevenson, Washington. He was born on July 20th, 1952 in Medford, Oregon to Leonard and Barbara Ferns. He was 69 years of age at the time of his passing. He met his spouse Kathleen Ferns in Eugene, Oregon in 1980 and they recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary.
